I use a Pocket as a meeting recorder. In person it is polite: credit card sized, one click on the side button, and the phone app does the rest. Nobody is staring at a laptop lid between us. A light shows when it is recording. I rate it 5 out of 5.
If you just unboxed one, start with how to set up Pocket . How I use it day to day is the longer write-up. This page is the meeting job: Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and talks in a room.
In the room
Keep the slider down in Conversation mode. Press the side button once to start, once to stop. Pocket stays on the back of the phone. You do not need the phone in your hand while it records.
Talk normally. If something matters, say it out loud: “Action item”, “Decision”, “Risk”. Pocket pins those in the action list and the mind map.
After it syncs, you get a transcript, a summary, action items, and a mind map. I treat the action list as a checklist to verify. Speaker names slip when people talk over each other.

On Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet
Most of my work meetings are on a laptop. Pocket’s desktop app, still in beta, records Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet on macOS and Windows 10 and later. Pocket’s docs say it captures your microphone plus the call audio playing through the computer. It does not add a bot to the participant list. It does not record video, chat, or shared screens.
Before an important call:
- Install the desktop app and sign in.
- Allow microphone and system audio permissions.
- Under Settings, then General, then Recording, leave Meeting Detection on if you want a prompt when a supported call starts.
- Leave Auto Record off unless you want Pocket to start on its own. I leave it off.
Join the call, start Pocket or accept the prompt, and stop when the meeting ends. Wear headphones if you can. That cuts echo. Make a short test recording after you install the app or change a headset.
If system audio is not available, Pocket keeps recording the microphone instead of failing the whole file. Check the levels before a call you cannot redo.
Phone calls are a different mode. Slide up to Call mode and keep Pocket on the back of the phone so the contact mic can hear both sides. Slide back down when you hang up.
Tell people you are recording
Recording laws vary. Some states, including California and Washington, require everyone in the conversation to consent. Whatever tool you use, tell people you are recording. Company policy can be stricter than the law. The device does not handle that for you.
After the meeting
File the recording into a space or folder so later search has a place to land. Put the actions that matter on your calendar. If you want those notes in a vault, Pocket and Obsidian covers what Pocket actually publishes. If you want an assistant to search the meetings, Pocket and your AI agent is the why. Setup lives on connect Pocket to Claude and the Pocket MCP server page.

Notes from using it
I will add more meeting notes here as I keep using it.
