AI Life / Work & Study / Meeting Assistants
Most note taker reviews compare summaries. Summaries are all decent now. The question that matters if you use AI agents is whether the agent can get at the notes. More on the meeting assistant hub .
Agent access
| Tool | Agent access | Bot in the call? | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fireflies | Official MCP server at api.fireflies.ai/mcp | Yes, a bot joins | Fireflies docs |
| Otter | MCP reported on all plans | Yes, a bot joins | InterMIND |
| Granola | MCP reported on paid plans; API on Business | No bot, captures device audio | InterMIND |
| MCP server | No bot, a physical recorder | Pocket MCP server |
The Otter and Granola rows come from a third-party roundup. Plans change fast, so check each vendor’s docs before you rely on it.
Fireflies
The most documented agent access of the three. If you live in calls with bots allowed, it’s a strong pick. Try Fireflies
Otter
Familiar, and agent access is reported on every plan. The bot in the call is a deal breaker in some meetings.
Granola
No bot. It listens to your computer’s audio and you add your own notes. Agent access needs a paid plan. I wrote up connecting Granola to Claude . Try Granola
The one I use. It records in person and on calls, and my agent reads it over MCP. See Pocket vs Granola and Pocket vs Otter . Get Pocket
For bot-free options, see best AI note taker with no bot in the call . For hardware, see Pocket vs Plaud .
What my agent can do with it
This whole article is about the agent box. My agent pulls meeting notes through the Pocket MCP server and I’ve written about hooking other note takers to Claude in AI meeting note taker for Claude . If you connect several MCP servers, a gateway helps; I explain why in what is an MCP gateway .
