They work for maintenance, not for deep cleaning. That’s the consistent finding across published reviews. Hub: window robots .
What reviewers found
- Ecovacs Winbot W2 Omni and W2 Pro Omni clean dust, fingerprints, water marks and moderately dirty glass well. TechRadar’s reviewer said the W2 Pro Omni got filthy windows clean (TechRadar ). How-To Geek called the W2 Omni weird and wonderful (How-To Geek ). Corners and stubborn grime may still need a wipe. See the Winbot W2 at Ecovacs
- Hobot models cost less. Choice tested the Hobot R3 and asked whether an $800 window robot does a good job (Choice ). TechRadar found the S7 Pro a big help on big windows (TechRadar ).
Where they help
- Large, frameless panes like sliding doors.
- Windows that are hard to reach from inside.
- Regular light cleaning, so dirt never builds up.
Where they don’t
- You still attach the robot, watch it and move it pane to pane.
- Textured glass, gaps and very dirty surfaces are a poor fit.
- Corners need a cloth.
Verdict
If you have a wall of glass and want it clear between proper cleans, they’re useful. If you have many small framed windows, a squeegee is faster. The same “maintenance, not miracle” logic applies to robot vacuums with mop docks .
