Lockly Vision Elite Review: Lock, Doorbell and Camera in One

Lockly Vision Elite review from published tests: a smart lock with fingerprint and PIN Genie keypad, plus a video doorbell that lacks person detection.

AI Life / Home / Smart Locks

The Lockly Vision Elite puts a smart lock, a fingerprint reader, a keypad and a video doorbell into one device. Lockly’s PIN Genie keypad shuffles the digits so smudges do not reveal your code. Reviewers like the lock and are less impressed with the doorbell.

I have not owned the Lockly Vision Elite. This review is built from the maker’s published specs and independent reviews, linked below. For more picks, see the Smart Locks hub .

What reviewers like

  • One device replaces a lock and a doorbell.
  • PIN Genie hides your code from smudges and onlookers.
  • Reliable fingerprint entry.

What to watch for

  • The doorbell is average, with no person or package detection, per The Verge.
  • Bulky on the door.
  • No Apple Home or Home Key support, per The Verge.

Who should buy it

Buy it if you want one device at the door and the lock is the priority. Skip it if the camera matters most; a separate doorbell is better.

PIN Genie

The keypad scatters the numbers across buttons in a different order each time, so the same code is typed in different places. That makes smudges useless and shoulder-surfing harder.

The doorbell trade-off

The Verge found the doorbell average and missing person and package detection. If package theft is your worry, the Eufy E340 or Nest Doorbell does more.

Quick answers

Does it need a hub? No. It connects over Wi-Fi.

Does it record locally? Check Lockly’s current storage options for your region.

Before you buy any smart lock

  • Measure your door: thickness, backset (the distance from the edge to the center of the hole) and whether the deadbolt drags. A lock motor struggles with a bolt that sticks.
  • Check your ecosystem: Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, Z-Wave or Matter.
  • Decide how you will get in when batteries die. Most locks have a key, a USB-C or 9V jump point, or both.
  • Think about who gets codes. Guest codes and schedules are a big part of the value, and you can revoke them at any time.
  • Renters should check the lease before replacing a lock; a retrofit model may be the safer route.

One device or two

The pitch is fewer things on your door. You get one battery to manage, one app and one install. The cost is that each half is a compromise. A dedicated doorbell like the Eufy E340 or Nest Doorbell has better detection, and a dedicated lock like the Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch is slimmer. If your door frame cannot fit a separate doorbell, or you do not have doorbell wiring and want a camera anyway, the Vision Elite solves that cleanly.

Setup notes

Install is a full deadbolt replacement. Charge the battery fully before setup, add fingerprints for each person, and set a backup code. Test the doorbell’s motion range and turn on notifications only for the events you care about, since a busy street can make a doorbell chatty.

Install and setup notes

The Vision Elite replaces both a deadbolt and a doorbell, so plan the job as two installs in one. Measure your door thickness and backset first, and check that your Wi-Fi reaches the front door, since video and remote alerts depend on it. Charge the batteries fully before setup.

Is the Lockly Vision Elite on sale for Black Friday?

It is one of the products I am watching this season. I do not list sale prices here because they change by the hour and differ by color, bundle and store. Compare against the price you see in the weeks before the sale, and check whether a bundle adds things you will not use.

Our take

AI Score note: research-based, not hands-on. A good lock with an average doorbell; buy it for convenience, not for the camera. This is my editorial read of published reviews, not a rating.
