Hue's tap dial switch can run different scenes depending on the time of day. That's how I set my lights up.

{{< owner hue >}}I have it all. 5/5, dead simple. I use time-of-day scenes on the Hue tap dial, with 4 scenes mapped to different times of day.{{< /owner >}}

## How to set it up

1. In the Hue app, add the tap dial switch.
2. Pick a button and choose **Time-based** instead of a single scene.
3. Add time slots, for example morning, day, evening and night.
4. Pick a scene for each slot.
5. Use the dial to brighten or dim whatever scene is on.

## Why it works

One button, four behaviors. Nobody has to think about which scene to pick.

Pair it with a voice assistant: [best smart speaker](/ai-life/assistants/smart-speakers/best-smart-speaker/).
