> Segway Navimow review, research-based: the i2 LiDAR for shaded small yards, the X3 for large open lawns, and the edge strip both leave.

Segway's Navimow line covers wire-free robot mowers from small yards to multi-acre lawns. The i2 LiDAR uses LiDAR and vision instead of satellite RTK, and the X3 is the larger, faster satellite-guided model.

I have not owned the Segway Navimow. This review is built from the maker's published specs and independent reviews, linked below. For more picks, see the [Robot Mowers hub](/ai-life/home/robot-mowers/).

## What reviewers like

- Gear Diary said the i2 LiDAR was the first robot mower that handled its tree-filled yard.
- TechRadar called the X3 ultra-speedy and super accurate.
- No boundary wire to bury.

## What to watch for

- The i2 LiDAR leaves roughly 10 to 20 cm unmowed near edges, per reviewers.
- The X3 depends on satellite positioning and needs a clear-sky antenna spot.
- Pick the model by lawn size; the ranges do not overlap much.

## Who should buy it

Pick the i2 LiDAR for a small, shaded or uneven yard; pick the X3 for a big, open lawn. Skip Navimow if you want edge-to-edge cutting with no trimmer pass.

## How I think about this category

I run Mammotion mowers at home, covered in my [Mammotion Luba notes](/ai-life/home/robot-mowers/mammotion-luba-owner-notes/). I have not owned a Navimow. The biggest lesson from my yard applies here too: navigation type matters more than any spec.

## Robot mower checklist

- **Map your sky.** Satellite RTK systems need open sky for the antenna. Heavy tree cover favors vision or LiDAR models.
- **Measure your slopes.** Box claims are best-case. Wet grass on a hill is the hard test.
- **Check the edges.** Many robots leave a strip along walls and beds, so plan on a trimmer pass.
- **Think about theft and storage.** PIN locks, GPS tracking and an alarm help. Bring it in for winter where the maker recommends it.
- **Look at the dealer.** Some brands, like Husqvarna, sell through dealers who install and service; others ship direct.

## AI features that actually work

On robot mowers, the AI that matters is obstacle detection: a camera or LiDAR that spots toys, hoses and animals and stops or steers around them. It reduces, but does not remove, the need to walk the lawn before a run. Smart scheduling that skips rain is helpful. Treat claims about "learning" your lawn as marketing until reviewers confirm them.

## Safety

Keep kids and pets off the lawn while it runs, and schedule mowing for times the yard is empty. Night mowing can harm hedgehogs and other wildlife in some regions, so daytime schedules are the safer default.

## Ongoing costs

Blades wear and are cheap to replace; check the maker's interval. Some connected features use a cellular plan or a paid tier after a trial on certain brands, so read the listing for your exact model.

## Quick answers

**Do I still need a trimmer?** Almost always. Edges, fence lines and bed borders need a pass every week or two.

**Can it handle my hill?** Use the reviewer-tested slope, not the box number, and test on wet grass before you rely on it.

**Which Navimow for a corner lot with a big oak?** The i Series with LiDAR, if the lawn size fits. Satellite-only models lose their fix under dense canopy.

## Is the Segway Navimow on sale for Black Friday?

It is one of the products I am watching this season. I do not list sale prices here because they change by the hour and differ by color, bundle and store. Compare against the price you see in the weeks before the sale, and check whether a bundle adds things you will not use.

## Our take

**AI Score note:** research-based, not hands-on. A wide, well-reviewed lineup; match the navigation type to your trees and sky. This is my editorial read of published reviews, not a rating.
