The Deco BE63 is TP-Link's value tri-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh system. Each node has four 2.5 GbE ports and a USB port, and the Deco app handles setup, parental controls and security.

I have not owned the TP-Link Deco BE63. This review is built from the maker's published specs and independent reviews, linked below. For more picks, see the [Networking hub](/ai-life/home/networking/).

## What reviewers like

- Tom's Hardware measured the top short-range 6 GHz result in its group.
- Four 2.5 GbE ports and USB per node, plus full control of each band across primary, guest and IoT networks.
- PCMag gave it an Editors' Choice for easy setup and strong combined throughput.

## What to watch for

- 2.4 GHz performance trailed rivals in Tom's Hardware testing.
- Tom's Guide found long-distance performance suffers; two nodes left gaps in a 3,500 sq ft home.
- BroadbandNow had to reset its modem several times during setup.

## Who should buy it

Buy it if you want tri-band Wi-Fi 7, lots of wired ports and included parental controls in a small to midsize home, ideally with wired backhaul. Skip it for a very large home with two nodes only, or if you prefer a simpler app with fewer choices.

## Ports matter more than you think

Four 2.5 GbE ports per node means a desk with a PC, a console and a NAS can all go wired at multi-gig speed without a switch. That is the BE63's quiet advantage over eero 7 and Nest Wifi Pro.

## Coverage reality check

Tom's Guide's two-node test left areas uncovered in a 3,500 sq ft home. If your house is that size or has thick walls, plan on three nodes or a wired satellite.

## Mesh basics before you buy

- **Count your rooms, not your square feet.** Walls, floors and appliances matter more than the box's coverage claim. Put the first satellite about halfway between the router and the dead zone, not in the dead zone itself.
- **Wire the backhaul if you can.** Every reviewer who tested wired and wireless backhaul saw faster, steadier results with a cable between nodes.
- **Match the ports to your plan.** If your internet is faster than 1 Gbps, gigabit ports become the ceiling.
- **Check your ISP box.** Most mesh systems have no modem inside, so your provider's gateway may need bridge mode to avoid double NAT.
- **Read the subscription page.** Several brands keep parental controls or security filtering behind a paid plan. Decide whether you need them before you compare prices.

## Privacy, accounts and subscriptions

Every mesh system here needs a phone app and a cloud account to set up. That account sees your device list and, on some plans, traffic categories for filtering. Read the privacy settings once, turn off data sharing you do not want, and note which features sit behind a paid plan. Firmware updates install automatically on most of these systems, which is good for security; check that auto-update is on after setup.

## Quick answers

**Is Wi-Fi 7 worth it yet?** If your phone and laptop support it and you are replacing an old router anyway, yes. If your devices are a few years old, a good Wi-Fi 6 or 6E system gives you most of the benefit today.

## Is the TP-Link Deco BE63 on sale for Black Friday?

It is one of the products I am watching this season. I do not list sale prices here because they change by the hour and differ by color, bundle and store. Compare against the price you see in the weeks before the sale, and check whether a bundle adds things you will not use.

## Our take

**AI Score note:** research-based, not hands-on. Strong value: fast up close, generous ports and included controls, with weaker range and 2.4 GHz. This is my editorial read of published reviews, not a rating.
