Getting started

  1. Charge the feeder fully before you mount it, and set it up in the Birdfy app on your home Wi-Fi.
  2. Mount it where it gets visits but not constant motion from branches or traffic. Busy backgrounds are what drive false alerts.
  3. Tune alerts on day one. My owner review has the settings I’d change.

How the AI works

  • Where it runs: Birdfy has not said on its membership page whether ID runs on the feeder or in its cloud; the clips and Moments it identifies are stored in Birdfy’s cloud.
  • Which model: Birdfy has not published one.
  • What leaves the device: motion clips and snapshots go to Birdfy’s cloud for storage and ID.
  • Free vs paid: Birdfy’s membership page advertises unlimited AI bird recognition, longer clips (up to 30 seconds) and cloud storage of up to 60 days for members, and an AI bird expert chat. Cutting the noise

The fix for “too many notifications” is mostly placement and sensitivity: lower motion sensitivity, aim away from moving branches, and turn off alerts for anything that isn’t a bird visit (Birdfy troubleshooting ).
