AI Life / Home / Air Purifiers
The Airmega 250S is Coway’s Wi-Fi version of the Airmega 250, a box-shaped purifier for living rooms and large bedrooms. It adds the IoCare+ app, voice control and air quality history to a proven HEPA and carbon filter.
I have not owned the Coway Airmega 250S. This review is built from the maker’s published specs and independent reviews, linked below. For more picks, see the Air Purifiers hub .

What reviewers like
- AirPurifyHQ and HouseFresh both found strong particle cleaning for its size.
- HouseFresh praised the build quality and design.
- The carbon layer helps with cooking and pet odors.
What to watch for
- HouseFresh found few fan speeds, so it does not clean well below about 45 dBA.
- The IoCare app has very low store ratings and logged HouseFresh out repeatedly.
- HEPA and carbon are one panel, so you replace both together.
Who should buy it
Buy it for a room of roughly 350 to 450 square feet if you want app control and voice commands. If you can live without Wi-Fi, the plain Airmega 250 uses the same filter design. Skip it if you need very quiet cleaning in a bedroom.
Honest room size
Coway quotes 930 square feet, but that is at two air changes per hour. AirPurifyHQ and HouseFresh both land near 373 square feet at about five air changes per hour, which is the figure that matters for allergies and smoke.
How to size a purifier
Ignore the biggest room number on the box. Makers often quote coverage at one or two air changes per hour, which is too slow for allergies, pets or smoke. For those, aim for four to five air changes per hour. A quick rule: multiply the room’s square footage by about 0.65 to get the smoke CADR you want. A 300 square foot bedroom wants roughly 200 CFM. If you are between two models, buy the stronger one and run it on a lower, quieter speed. That beats a small unit screaming on high.
Smart features that matter
The useful smart features are schedules, a night mode that dims the lights, filter-life alerts and remote control when you smell smoke outside. Auto mode is only as good as the particle sensor, and cheap sensors drift. Check the reading against a separate monitor if you can, or pick a fixed speed. Apps also need a cloud account, so check whether the unit still has full controls on the device if the app or company goes away.
Ongoing costs
Filters are the real cost of owning a purifier. Before you buy, look up the genuine replacement filter and how often the maker says to change it, then check today’s price. Third-party filters are cheaper but often skip the HEPA certification. Vacuum or rinse washable pre-filters every couple of weeks, especially with pets, to keep airflow up and extend the main filter’s life.
Noise and placement
Put the purifier where air can flow freely, a foot or more from walls and furniture, and not in a corner. In a bedroom, the speed you can sleep with is the speed that matters, so check reviewers’ noise readings at low and medium, not only high.
Is the Coway Airmega 250S on sale for Black Friday?
It is one of the products I am watching this season. I do not list sale prices here because they change by the hour and differ by color, bundle and store. Compare against the price you see in the weeks before the sale, and check whether a bundle adds things you will not use.
Our take
AI Score note: research-based, not hands-on. Excellent filtration and coverage, held back by an unreliable app and a big jump in noise between speeds. This is my editorial read of published reviews, not a rating.
