Getting started
- Size first. Oura sells by its own ring sizes, so use the sizing kit before you pick a size.
- Install the Oura app, create an account and pair the ring over Bluetooth.
- Wear it for a few nights. Sleep and readiness scores lean on your own baseline, so the first days are a warm-up.
- Know the membership. Oura features run on a paid Oura Membership, and Oura says Gen3 and newer rings need an active membership for API access too.

How the AI works
- Where it runs: in the cloud. Oura says Advisor data “is processed and stored in Oura’s cloud” and is never sold to third parties (Oura help ).
- Which model: Oura describes Advisor as built on “a state-of-the-art large language model” without naming the vendor. In 2026 it added its own women’s health model, which Oura says is fine-tuned and hosted on Oura-controlled infrastructure (Oura blog , TechCrunch ).
- What leaves the ring: your ring data syncs through the app to Oura’s cloud, and Advisor uses that data plus what you type to it.
Using Oura Advisor
Advisor answers questions about your own Sleep, Activity, Readiness and Resilience data and can chart long-term trends (Oura blog ). Good prompts are specific: “why was my readiness low this week” beats “am I healthy.”

Does Oura work with ChatGPT or Claude?
Through Oura’s API and MCP terms, yes: Oura publishes an API and MCP agreement for connecting Oura data to outside tools. Check that agreement and the specific client’s setup before connecting. Source: Oura API and MCP agreement .
Does Oura work with MCP agents?
Yes. Oura’s API and MCP agreement covers an Oura-operated MCP server that exposes your data to approved MCP clients after you sign in and consent. Treat any agent you connect as having read access to your health data. Source: Oura API and MCP agreement .
Can ChatGPT or Claude read Oura data without MCP?
Partly, if the assistant can read Apple Health. Oura exports only some data there: sleep (duration and stages), heart rate, respiratory rate, steps, active energy, workouts and mindful minutes. Readiness, HRV and temperature are not on Oura’s export list. Source: Oura Apple Health integration .
