Timekettle W4 Pro Review: Translator Earbuds for Calls and Meetings

Timekettle W4 Pro review from published specs and tests: open-ear translation earbuds, 54 online languages, limited offline pairs, and mixed independent results.

AI Life / Gadgets / Translators

The Timekettle W4 Pro is a pair of open-ear earbuds built for translation. You can share one bud with the person you are talking to, translate phone and video calls, and transcribe meetings with AI notes. A phone and the Timekettle app are required.

I have not owned the Timekettle W4 Pro. This review is built from the maker’s published specs and independent reviews, linked below. For more picks, see the Translators hub .

What reviewers like

  • Call translation. This is the feature phones and AirPods do not fully cover.
  • Shareable open-ear design makes face-to-face conversation feel less awkward than holding out a phone.
  • Meeting transcription and memos for people working across languages.

What to watch for

  • Notebookcheck found recognition, latency and audio quality below what Timekettle advertises.
  • Offline is limited to 13 pairs, and extra offline packs and minutes can cost more.
  • AirPods and Pixel Buds now do live translation for free with the right phone.

Who should buy it

Buy them if you take regular calls across languages for work. For travel conversation, check whether your current earbuds already do it.

Modes

Timekettle lists four ways to use the W4 Pro. Two-way conversation, where you give the other person one earbud. Call translation for phone and video calls. Media translation, for listening to a talk or video in another language. And meeting transcription with AI memos. All of it runs through the Timekettle app on your phone.

The open-ear design is the point for conversation mode. You can hear the room, and handing a stranger an earbud that sits outside the ear canal is less awkward than an in-ear bud.

Languages online and offline

Online, Timekettle claims 54 languages and 108 accents. Offline, it is 13 language pairs, and Best Translation Earbuds notes that offline packs and extra usage minutes can carry extra cost. If you travel somewhere with weak data, check which offline pairs are included before you count on it.

How well it works

Notebookcheck tested the W4 Pro for business use and found speech recognition, latency and audio quality below what Timekettle advertises. That matches a theme across reviews of translator earbuds: they work best with clear speakers, short sentences and a quiet room. The meeting memo feature is useful as a rough record, not a verbatim transcript.

Battery is rated at about six hours of translation per charge, with three mics per bud for pickup.

Versus AirPods and Pixel Buds

Apple and Google now offer live translation on recent earbuds paired with a compatible phone, at no extra cost. Those cover travel conversation well. The W4 Pro’s edge is call translation and meeting transcription. If you do not need those, try what you already own first.

Before you buy

Write down the language pairs you need and whether you will have data. Then check them against Timekettle’s online and offline lists. If your use is mostly short travel conversations, test your phone’s free translation first. If it is weekly client calls in another language, the W4 Pro is built for that.

Alternatives

  • Pocketalk S2. Handheld, its own data, no phone needed.
  • AirPods or Pixel Buds. Free live translation with the right phone.

Our take

AI Score note: research-based, not hands-on. The most capable translation earbuds on paper, with test results that do not fully match the claims. This is my editorial read of published reviews, not a rating.
