The Insta360 Link 2 is a webcam on a two-axis gimbal. It pans and tilts to follow you, and it can tip down to show your desk. That DeskView trick is the reason to pick it over the OBSBOT: show a sketch, a product or a circuit board without a second camera.
I have not owned the Insta360 Link 2. This review is built from the maker’s published specs and independent reviews, linked below. For more picks, see the AI Webcams hub .

What reviewers like
- DeskView and whiteboard modes are built in. No extra arm or second camera.
- Audio. XDA calls the mics some of the best it has heard on a webcam.
- It tips down on its own after a short idle time, which works as a privacy cover.
What to watch for
- Tracking can lose you. XDA saw it fail to reacquire after ducking behind a chair, and it was less reliable than OBSBOT in very low light.
- PCMag found the picture soft and noise-prone, and rates the OBSBOT models sharper.
- It is a big webcam on a thin laptop lid.
Who should buy it
Buy it if you demo things on a desk or a whiteboard and want good audio without a separate mic. If you move around a room a lot or work in dim light, the OBSBOT Tiny 2 tracks better.
Setup and software
The Link 2 connects over USB-C, with a USB-A adapter in the box per XDA, and works on Windows 10 and macOS 10.13 or later, per B&H. It sits on a magnetic mount with a standard 1/4-20 thread, so a small tripod works too. The Link Controller app on Mac and Windows is where the features live. PCMag lists tracking for one person or a group, framing presets for head, upper body or full body, and separate standard and smart whiteboard modes.
Picture and focus
The 1/2 inch sensor with an f/1.8 lens records 4K at 30 fps or 1080p at 60 fps, with HDR in every mode, per Insta360. Phase-detection autofocus works from about 10 cm, which German site Basic Tutorials calls excellent for product shots. Opinions split on sharpness: PCMag found the image soft and noise-prone, while XDA called the 4K some of the best you can get. In good light both agree it looks better than a laptop camera by a wide margin.
Privacy and boundaries
There is no lens cover. Instead the gimbal tips the lens down after about 10 seconds of inactivity, per B&H, and you can tip it manually. Pause-Track Areas let you set boundaries the camera will not follow past, which XDA found useful for keeping parts of a room off camera.
Audio
Two beamforming mics with AI noise cancellation offer Voice Focus, Voice Suppression and Music Balance modes. XDA rates them among the best webcam mics it has tested. For a lot of people that removes the need for a separate USB mic.
Alternatives
- OBSBOT Tiny 2. Better tracking and low light, higher cost.
- Insta360 Link 2C. Same family without the gimbal, for people who sit still, per XDA.
Our take
AI Score note: research-based, not hands-on. The most useful desk-demo webcam, with tracking and low-light picture a step behind OBSBOT. This is my editorial read of published reviews, not a rating.
